Phrasal Verbs for Travel

The Naked Bolívar statue in Pereira, Colombia. Bolivar was getting away from his enemies at the time, and maybe you would like to get away from your daily routine, by escaping for a holiday?

Are you dreaming about your next adventure? 🌍✈️ Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a long vacation, planning your trip properly can save you time, stress, and money. Let me share some of my favourite tips to help you get away and make the most of your journey.

1. Find Out About Your Destination

Before you book anything, it’s important to find out all you can about your destination. Check out local customs, weather, and the best places to visit. Knowing this will help you plan your trip better and avoid any surprises.

2. Check In on Time

If you’re flying, make sure you check in online as early as possible. It’ll save you time at the airport and help you avoid long queues. Nobody wants to be stressed before their trip has even started!

3. Pack Smart and Don’t Run Out of Essentials

While packing, think carefully about what you’ll need so you don’t run out of important items like toiletries or chargers. You don’t want to waste time looking around for a shop when you’re supposed to be relaxing!

4. Set Off Early

On the day of your trip, set off early. This gives you extra time in case something unexpected happens, like traffic or train delays. Being early is always better than rushing!

5. Drop Off Your Bags

If your hotel lets you check in late, ask if you can drop off your bags first. That way, you can start exploring without dragging your luggage everywhere.

6. Look Around and Explore

Once you arrive, it’s time to look around and enjoy the new surroundings. Don’t be afraid to wander and discover hidden gems—it’s one of the best parts of travelling.

7. Stop By in Interesting Places

If your trip involves a long journey, think about stopping by at various interesting places on the route. It’s a great way to see more culture and landmarks, and break up the trip.

8. Avoid Getting Held Up

Check your travel documents, tickets, and passport before you leave. This will help you avoid getting held up at the airport or missing important connections.

9. Get Away from Stress

Work life can be tiring so a holiday is always good, but planning trips away can be stressful too, so planning ahead takes a lot of this stress away. Once you’re organized, you’ll feel more relaxed and ready to enjoy your trip.

10. Check Out Before Exploring More

On your last day, make sure you check out of your accommodation on time. If you’re leaving later in the day, many hotels allow you to leave your bags there while you explore a bit more.

11. Break Down the Plan

Planning everything at once can feel overwhelming, so break down your travel plan into smaller steps. Book flights one day, research activities another day, and pack a little at a time.

12. Head Off and Have Fun!

Finally, don’t forget the most important part: enjoy your trip! Traveling is a chance to relax, try new things, and create unforgettable memories.

Where are you planning to go next? Safe travels! 🚀
